This ministry was started in the late 1950’s, shortly after this parish was established, to give rosaries out to all our summertime visitors, about 200-300 rosaries a year. Jim & Katherine Wolff (an original parishioner) joined this ministry in the early 1960’s and made rosaries until about 2005, well into their 80’s. Now in 2011 we have about 10 people making rosaries. We now give out the rosaries to all our visitors year round usually about 500-600 per year. We also give about 100 rosaries per year to the Children’s Ark in Green Mountain Falls.
We have people who make rosaries while traveling in the car or RV on long trips, one which makes them while watch EWTN programs, others just when they sit down to watch a movie or program on TV. We all make these when we have time to sit and just make rosaries or while watching or listening to other things. It is just a matter of how much each of us wants to dedicate to this ministry. For those who are interested we would love to see you make at least 12 rosaries per month, which should average to about 3 hours per month. Training to make the rosaries usually lasts less than one hour, once you know how to make them it is up to you on how many you would like to make. We supply you with all the tools you need and all the rosary kits you would like. If interested call Joanne at 339-4003.
